This study analyses the incidence and persistence of monetary poverty, material deprivation, and inequality among children in Barcelona, both before and during the economic and social crisis derived from the pandemic. An analysis is carried out that addresses and anticipates the possible coverage deficits of the social protection mechanisms of children implemented to counter the effects of the pandemic. These mechanisms, despite managing to contain 35% of the risk of extreme poverty for children, do not cover the structural needs of the problem.
