This report responds to the request from the Metropolitan Urban Master Plan (PDUM) team to update and expand the study conducted in 2021 by the Social and Urban Cohesion Area of the Institut Metropolità (formerly the Barcelona Institute of Regional and Metropolitan Studies) on socio-residential exclusion in the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona. The research underlying this document addresses the following objectives: (1) Review the available data to inform the different situations of residential exclusion defined by the ETHOS classification, (2) calculate the available indicators with the highest possible territorial disaggregation, (3) propose the most suitable methods or approaches to fill information gaps for situations without existing data, and (4) identify and propose lines of work to tackle residential exclusion from a metropolitan perspective.
