Resum:

The local security policies (and prevention) is a chapter of the book coordinated by Juanjo Medina Ariza “Crime control institutions” published by Editorial Dykinson. With an introduction by Borja Mappelli, this monograph offers a critical overview of the different actors and concepts involved in crime control in Spain from different theoretical and political-criminal perspectives. In the chapter, security and prevention policies in the local area are briefly introduced, showing their complexity. Thus, the reader is introduced to its regulatory leadership in Spain, as well as the difficult approach to what constitutes a local security problem and how local institutions deal with the resulting institutional framework. However, we want to take into account the scope for organizational improvement that public security and prevention policies at the local level can offer.
