The COVID-19 health crisis and its consequent paralysis of economic activity have had serious effects on inequality and the Spanish economy. This study updates the estimates made by the city of Barcelona at the end of 2020 based on an income simulation method that approximates the socio-economic effects of the pandemic in the city of Barcelona. The results report the reduction of average net annual household income, the increase in income inequality, the risk of moderate poverty, and the difficulties in dealing with housing payments. In addition, it is pointed out how children, the young population, the migrant population, and the working classes are most affected by the crisis.
