The Metropolitan Statistics on Living Conditions (EMCV) aims to inform about the evolution of living conditions, inequality, and poverty in the metropolitan area of Barcelona. This document contains a synthesis of the technical-methodological work carried out in statistics that justifys the changes applied in data calibration. This fifth edition (2020-2021), together with the socioeconomic impact of the pandemic, opens the possibility of solidly validating and evaluating the evolutionary results of this statistical operation and its capacity to reflect the impact of crises. The future challenges of the EMCV are also highlighted, led by the lack of foreign population observations in data collection and the necessary introduction of nationality in (re)calibration.
